H Western Digital ανακοίνωσε τη διάθεση σκληρών δίσκων με χωρητικότητα 2 Tera Bytes, τη μεγαλύτερη διαθέσιμη χωρητικότητα στην αγορά αυτή τη στιγμή! Το κάθε platter αντιστοιχεί σε 500GB. Επιπλέον οι σκληροί αυτοί δίσκοι ανήκουν στην κατηγορία Caviar Green που σημάινει πως καταναλώνουν και λιγότερη ηλεκτρική ενέργεια από τους συνηθισμένους hard disks. Ο Jim Morris, αντί-πρόεδρος της WD δήλωσε:

«Saving power without sacrificing storage capacity is what consumers want, and what many businesses are requiring today. With the launch of the new WD Caviar Green 2 TB hard drive, customers receive the additional capacities needed to operate today’s highly advanced programs and high-resolution digital files while using less power than typical drives with similar speeds and capacities.»

Η τιμή τους αναμένεται στα $279.
